Bulk tariff calculator
Bulk Tariff Calculator
Upload a CSV or Excel file of HTS codes and countries of origin, or paste rows from a spreadsheet, and get the US import duty for every product on today’s tariff schedule.
- The duty rate and the duty in dollars for every product
- Which programs apply to each product: Section 301, Section 232, Section 338, antidumping and countervailing duty
- Totals and the effective duty rate for the whole file
- A CSV of the results to keep, share or load into your own sheet
Free: 5 products a week, or 10 with your email, shared with the single calculator. Signed-in Gateway customers can calculate up to 500 products per file.
How the bulk tariff calculator works
- Step 1
Prepare your list
One row per product with its HTS code and country of origin. Add the value in US dollars to see the duty in dollars. Any spreadsheet works, and the template already has the columns.
- Step 2
Upload or paste
Drop a CSV or Excel file, or copy the rows from Excel or Google Sheets and paste them. Before anything is calculated, the page shows which column it read as what and flags every row it cannot read.
- Step 3
Get the duty
Each product is priced by the same engine as the Gateway tariff calculator, on the schedule in force today. Sort the results by duty and download them as a CSV.
File format: the columns it reads
Columns are matched by their header, in any order. Extra columns are ignored.
| Column | Needed | Headers it recognizes | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
| HTS code | Required | hts_code, HTS, HTSUS, HS code, tariff code | 8471.30.01.00 |
| Country of origin | Required | country_code, country, origin, COO | CN, CHN or China |
| Value in US dollars | For the duty in dollars | value_usd, value, customs value, amount | 12,000 |
| SKU or product | Optional | sku, part number, item, product, description | LAPTOP-14 |
| Quantity and unit | Only for duty charged per unit | quantity or qty, and unit or uom | 120 and kg |
Before you upload
- Use the full 8- or 10-digit HTS code. Dots are optional.
- Excel drops the leading zero from codes in chapters 01 to 09, so 0901.11.00.15 becomes 901110015. The calculator puts the zero back and marks the row; formatting the column as text keeps the code intact.
- If Excel shows a code like 8.47E+09, it has turned the code into a number. Format the column as text and type the codes again.
- Countries can be two-letter codes (CN), three-letter codes (CHN) or names (China, Viet Nam).
- Leave the value column out and every row still gets its duty rate. If the file has a value column, fill it on every row: an empty cell is flagged, never priced as $0.
- Files up to 500 KB: CSV, tab-separated text or Excel (.xlsx, .xls). Excel files are read from their first sheet.
What the duty includes
- The general rate of duty (Column 1) for the line, including duties charged per unit when you give a quantity
- Section 301 duties, including the China lists and the forced labor action
- Section 232 duties on metals, autos and parts, wood products and other covered goods
- Section 338 duties on listed products of Canada and Section 301 duties on products of Brazil
- Antidumping and countervailing duties where an order covers the line, marked provisional because the rate depends on the exporter
CBP processing fees (MPF and HMF), freight and insurance are not in the bulk results. The single calculator adds the CBP fees for one product, and a Gateway quote covers the freight.
Bulk tariff calculator FAQ
How do I calculate tariffs for multiple products at once?+
Put each product on its own row with its HTS code and country of origin, plus its value in US dollars if you want the duty in dollars. Upload the file or paste the rows on this page. The calculator prices every row on today’s US tariff schedule and shows the duty rate, the programs that apply and the duty for each product, with totals for the file.
What columns does the file need?+
Two are required: the HTS code and the country of origin. The value in US dollars, a SKU or product name, and a quantity with its unit are optional. Columns are matched by their header, so hts_code, HTS or HS code all work, as do country_code, country or origin.
Why did Excel change my HTS codes?+
Excel treats an HTS code as a number. It drops the leading zero from codes in chapters 01 to 09, so 0901.11.00.15 becomes 901110015, and it can show long codes as 8.47E+09. The calculator restores a dropped zero and marks the row. For codes shown in E+ form, format the column as text and type the codes again.
How many products can I calculate for free?+
Five products a week without an account, or ten once you add your email. The allowance is shared with the single tariff calculator. Signed-in Gateway customers can calculate up to 500 products per file.
Which tariffs are included?+
The general rate of duty, Section 301 duties including the China lists and the forced labor action, Section 232 duties, Section 338 duties on listed products of Canada, Section 301 duties on products of Brazil, and antidumping and countervailing duties, which are marked provisional because they depend on the exporter. CBP processing fees are not included.
Can I calculate for a past or future entry date?+
No. Every row is priced on the tariff schedule in force today. A file with an entry date column is refused rather than priced on the wrong date.
Are the results a customs ruling?+
No. They are planning estimates from the Gateway tariff engine. The classification decides the duty, so confirm each HTS code, and treat rows marked provisional with care. For a firm landed cost, freight included, Gateway quotes the shipment.
